剛剛在水木書苑買票時,看到一位老先生拿兩本書在櫃檯結帳。
仔細一看,這不是李怡嚴嗎?
聞名已久,今而還可是頭一回看到。
偷看了一下李老爺爺買什麼書,一本飛燕驚龍傳,一本名兒太長不記得了。
只依稀記得看起來是很專業的書籍。
果然如傳聞一般,李老爺爺的閱讀興趣相當廣泛。

Paul Dirac: The Man and his Work
文章內容其實也就如同標題所說的,不過由於作者與 Dirac 是認識的,有直接的交流,裡頭也許多有趣的描述以及 Dirac 與人的互動。就如大家所知道的 Dirac 是個沉默寡言的怪人,從其中的故事可以窺知一二。
其中有兩個我特別覺得有趣的片段:
其一,1929年,Dirac 與 Heisenberg 一同作船從美國前往日本作學術訪問,以下是 Heisenberg 所敘述的故事。
在一個晚會中,Heisenberg 喜歡參與社交活動並與人跳舞,Dirac 並不喜愛這類的活動卻也在一旁的坐著看。Heisenberg 一段舞結束後回到 Dirac 旁的椅子坐下。此時 Dirac 問道。

Dark Matter Note
1. Begining
The studies of dark matter started from the observation of spiral Galaxy in early 1930s. By looking at the speed distribution of Galaxy, people found out that the distribution does not correspond to the previous prediction based on Newton's law. F. Zwicky gave the indication of missing mass called "dark matter" which points out the non-luminous property.
